Ever dreamt of being a green thumb… this is your moment!

Spring is a vibrant time of year when the days grow longer, and the weather begins to warm up. This season is ideal for gardening, as the soil temperature is perfect for germinating seeds, and the risk of frost diminishes.

As Australia hosts a variety of different climates check out planting guide for more information specific to your region.

If you’re looking to start or expand your garden, here are our top seeds to plant in Spring.

Fruit + Vegetables 🍅 🥬

Tomatoes: Plant in a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Stake the plants to support growth and ensure good air circulation.

Carrots: Sow seeds directly into the garden bed. Ensure the soil is loose and free of stones to allow the roots to grow straight.

Chilli: They need a sunny location and well-drained soil.

Lettuce: Sow seeds directly into the garden bed. Lettuce prefers cooler temperatures, so it’s best to plant it early in spring.

General Tips for Spring Planting

Pest Control: Keep an eye out for pests such as aphids, snails, and caterpillars. Use organic methods of pest control, such as neem oil or introducing beneficial plants such as marigolds.

Soil Preparation: Ensure your soil is rich in organic matter. Adding compost or well-rotted manure can improve soil fertility and structure.

Watering: Newly planted seeds and seedlings need regular watering to establish strong root systems. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.

Mulching: Mulch around your plants to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.
